Melt Your Face Off with Cherub’s ‘Doses & Mimosas’

mom-dadOnce upon a time, I was insanely slacking on music posts. I created the Music Monday series as a way to kick my own ass into posting about music more often and I think it worked! But oftentimes, music posts just can’t wait til Miserable Monday because this song needs to be celebrated right fucking now.

I told my pal DoomBoogens about it in the only way I know how: By overhyping it like crazy and rambling like an asshole.

me: Doom.
DoomBoogens:  Nick.
me:  Doses & Mimosas.
is.
my.
new.
JAM.
I think its BEYOND GENIUS.
DoomBoogens:  who dat
me:  Cherub
I find it to be really sad, but also really brave.
DoomBoogens:  that’s a bold statment, sir
me:  like a FUCK IT type of catharsis.
like “I’m fucked up on drugs, but fuck it – cuz i hate you”
IT’S SO AMAZING.
i was listening to it last night and dying of excitement.
DoomBoogens:  jeez!
me:  oh crap. i’ve gone and overhyped it
DoomBoogens:  i’m hittin it now
yea you did
me:  FUCK EVERYONE WHO DOESN’T SWOON TO DOSES & MIMOSAS
DoomBoogens:  that’s the kinda stuff you say AFTER you have the person listen
DoomBoogens:  this makes me feel like i’m not living life
me:  RIGHT
like, even in your drug-filled, fuck up of a life, you can still be true to yourself AND CALL OUT THA HATERS
me:  dude so last night
i was listening to that song a few times in a row
and i was like: “PEOPLE MAKE SUCH AMAZING THINGS”
me:  “What’s the point of language if you don’t say what you feel, huh huhhhhhhhh”

I then serenaded Doom via GChat, and we were merry.

If you’re still reading this, you should probably just listen to this overhyped-yet-still-amahzing track. It’s not new or anything – it was originally released on Cherub’s 2012 release called “MoM and DaD” – but whatever.

  1. I’ve heard this somewhere before, and I don’t know where. I just remember the chorus (it’s sort of hard to forget, obviously)… but thanks for bringing it back into my consciousness, as I never had it on the iPod… I do now though!
