The opening of Michael Dougherty’s 2015 horror comedy, Krampus, is the antithesis of what the holidays should symbolize. It’s a slow-mo montage of seasonal stressors, from rioting customers and crowded stores, to the poor defenseless employees who are doomed to deal with the craziness. With all of this Christmas hullabaloo, it’s no wonder young Max (Emjay Anthony) loses his holiday spirit and accidentally unleashes an ancient demonic creature looking to punish those who have abandoned hope and faith.
