Karen O Announces First Solo Record, ‘Crush Songs’

Karen O Solo Album Cover

Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has announced her first solo album, Crush Songs. The album will be released September 9 in the U.S. and September 8 in the UK via Julian Casablancas’ label Cult.

Karen O has been rocking some solo collaborations for the last few years, particularly in the movie world. She worked with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross on a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” for the movie The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. She also composed most of the soundtrack for Spike Jonze’s Where the Wild Things Are. Oh, and she’s OSCAR NOMINATED for her track “The Moon Song” from Jonze’s Her (track is below). Needless to say, Karen O is awesome and she makes awesome music.

She shared a note about the album on her personal website that you can see below. Under that, check out her haunting “The Moon Song.”
