By now, surely you’ve heard the news: Futurama is coming back!

Comedy Central has signed the dotted line, ordering 26 episodes brand spankin’ new shows.  Maybe you’ve heard the other news: Fox threatened to recast all of the original voices. The voice cast includes John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, Billy West, Tress MacNeille and Katey Sagal.

Well fear not, Futurama fans! A compromise agreement was made with the studio – the studio agreed to pay slightly more for production, while the actors agreed to accept less.

In the official statement, creators Matt Groening and David X. Cohen said, “We are thrilled to have our incredible cast back. The call has already gone out to the animators to put the mouths back on the characters.”

The return of the show will mark the first real new episodes in 6 years. The new stuff will begin mid-2010.
