These are mostly boring. Same shows, different year. There are barely any surprises here. Snoooooze. Though I must admit – I arrived late to the Modern Family party, but that show deserves every bit of recognition it receives.

Here are my favorite tidbits: PARKS AND RECREATION gets some sweet, sweet lovin’. The series is up for Best Comedy Series, and Amy Poehler is in the running for Best Comedy Actress. Will the underdog have what it takes to dethrone the powerhouse that is 30 Rock? I hope so. Fey and company probably had their weakest year yet. If Parks stands any chance, this is the year to do it – and not next year, 30 Rock‘s last.

And also: Raising Hope‘s Martha Plimpton scores a nomination for Best Comedy Actress. Is there any chance in hell? No. (But then again, Goonies never say die.) Regardless, Raising Hope is one of the best new shows out there, and it’s completely underrated. It’s nice to see it get some attention.

The Emmys will air live on Sunday, September 18.
