Watch James Franco’s Tommy Wiseau Impersonation in the First Teaser for ‘The Disaster Artist’

Disaster Artist

Tommy Wiseau’s The Room is mind-boggling and inexplicable. It lulls and horrifies, leaving viewers both speechless and stark raving mad. It is a cacophony that jars the senses. A lot can be said about Wiseau’s “drama,” yet The Room holds a spot in the highest echelon of so-bad-it’s-good filmmaking, being infamously touted as the “Citizen Kane of bad movies.”

And it is simply beautiful.

Having sparked a midnight screening cult frenzy, the production of Wiseau’s…I guess we can call it a movie…was unequivocally its own horror film. The Room‘s Greg Sestero (along with writer Tom Bissell) wrote an entire book chronicling the largely ridiculous film, from its $6 million budget (a truly WTF-level fact) and revolving door of crew members, to the crazy hijinks of Wiseau, the unstable and completely inexperienced writer, director and star. The Disaster Artist is one of the most shocking behind-the-scenes tell-alls of all time. So naturally, James Franco needed to make a movie about it.

In the first teaser for the film of the same name, Franco’s Wiseau attempts to perform one of the original film’s most famous scenes (Oh hi, Mark!). And…let’s just say Tommy doesn’t nail the part.
